HOW TO STYLE SEQUINS AFTER THE HOLIDAYS

HAPPY 2021 🙂

It’s a brand new year and I really hope that it will bring you lots of happiness, health and love!

Is it just me or does it feel like the Holidays were months ago? Actually, it’s only been two weeks! HA!

So, because I haven’t put away all my glitters and sequins just yet, I thought I’d do a little post about how to style them after the Holiday Season to integrate them in your daily outfits.

Obviously, I know that sequins has nothing ‘casual’ about them, but you can make them more wearable on a day-to-day basis by pairing them with the right casual pieces like a sweater or sneakers for example.

I also think that we’ll see more and more brands in 2021 coming out with sequin pieces throughout the year. Who doesn’t want to feel like a million bucks everyday? I know I do! 🙂

Without further ado, let’s jump right into this post and I’ll share with you how I style sequins after the Holidays.

First of all, let’s talk about the garment we’ll be styling today: the sequin skirt.

This champagne coloured skirt is a neutral piece which gives you a ton of possibilities to create different looks. The midi length is also great because it’s such a versatile style that gives you more options wether you are going for a more dressy look or a more casual vibe.

Because of the lockdown and the new curfew law in my city right now, I am definitely not going anywhere in January, so I wanted to create a stay-at-home look with this beautiful skirt. Cozy but fun at the same time!

To make this dressy skirt more casual, I added a teddy coat to bring it down a notch and make it more wearable for an effortless day-to-day outfit.

Also, adding some low-key boots to your look will dress down any bold piece. Plus, they are warm and comfortable for the winter days ahead!

The trick to make a sequin skirt more wearable is to pair it with a simple casual top like a sweatshirt or a sweater which you probably already have in your closet.

By doing this, it makes your garment less party wear.

And of course, a bright lip colour and sunnies will complete your look and make your whole outfit come together.

STYLE TIP
You can dress down almost any sequin piece you wore over the holidays and make it more casual by pairing it with other casual pieces you already have in your closet.

Just make sure to style them with everyday items like denim or a button-down shirt for example and add simple accessories to finish off your look. The fun part is to experiment different ways of styling your bold sequin piece in a fun and wearable way.
