Fall... It’s officially here.
The colours, the smell of leaves, the crispy air, the pumpkin spice lattés, the cozy sweaters… who doesn’t like it?
And, it also means Fall Fashion. We are talking leather, plaid, animal prints, combat boots, wool, oversized sweaters and so on.
In this post, I will share with your my TOP 5 Fall Fashion Favourites & Must Haves in your wardrobe this season. These are the items to hunt down and add to your closet asap!
So let’s jump right into it!
#1 – PLAID
When I think of fall, I think of plaid.
And I love this print! It really makes me happy… bold and colourful! This season, plaid continues to be super trendy and comes in many different styles and prints… from gingham to tartan!
If there is only one item that you can afford to get your hands on this Fall, I recommend the blazer. It is everywhere this season and you can style it so many different ways! I love a good double-breasted neutral like this one or a cool jacquard boyfriend houndstooth print like this!
Another piece that is also quite popular is plaid pants and leggings. These ones are awesome for the office paired with heels and I love these leggings for a casual weekend look! If you are more on the curvy side, I found these really cute ones.
And how can we forget the plaid shirt. The one you wear almost every weekend and that you just throw on and go. I love the mix of colours on this flannel boyfriend shirt and my favourite one will always be the check print.
The plaid skirt was also really big last year and it’s still going strong this year! I found this one that I really like and also this belted one which is super cute with sneakers or flat booties for a casual look. For the office ladies, this awesome pencil skirt is totally work appropriate.
#2 – MAXI/MIDI DRESSES
I am in love with maxi & midi dresses. I love how cool and casual they are but also trendy at the same time. You can wear them in so many different ways from dressing them up for a night on the town to wearing them more casual style on the weekend.
This one is super cute for fall with booties and a hat for a very casual look or this one is totally work appropriate with heeled booties and a blazer.

#3 – ANIMAL PRINT
Animal prints have been around for a few years now and they are still going strong… especially for fall season. I always enjoy wearing them all year round but there’s something about fall and animal prints that really go well together. They have that classy and trendy vibe all at once.
If you are not really familiar with this bold print, the animal print family includes: leopard, snake, zebra and cheetah to name a few of the most popular ones right now!
I have to admit that my favourite one has always and will always be the leopard print. I am literally crazy for this print which I own in many different style.
Love this one for the office or a night out on the town (and it’s on sale right now!) and this one is work appropriate with a cute little blazer and booties!
I love how versatile these drawstring pants are dressed up with heels or down on the weekend with sneakers. Very cute and stylish!
This snake print skirt is amazing for the office with tights or just going to Sunday brunch worn with a sweater and combat boots. The possibilities are endless!
If loud prints is not your thing, these sneakers are really fun option and they instantly elevate your outfit without being too much.
#4 – COMBAT BOOTS
I purchased my first pair of combat boots back in high school. If you live in #ottawa, you’ll remember that back in the 90’s, the place to go for Dr. Martens was Rock Junction in the Market. So I dragged my mom there when I was 15 (thanks mom!) and the rest was history. I wore my purple docs to the bone.
So when they became popular again last year, I was thrown down memory lane. I still haven’t pulled the plug on a new pair yet, but I’m still thinking about it!
You don’t have to spend a lot of money on a pair of combat boots because there are a ton out there and some are really cool! I love wearing them 90’s style: with a cute floral dress and pretend I’m still 16 in my grunge days watching My So Called Life with Jared Leto and Claire Danes 😉
But honestly, you can wear them with anything: jeans, dresses, shorts… name it!
I love these ones which come in a bunch of different colours and this budget friendly pair is also a great option! Another fun choice would be this style.
#5 – LEATHER
Leather has been in my life since I can’t even remember. And I am a big fan of it! I like having different pieces of leather in my wardrobe.
A good black biker jacket never goes out of style and is a staple in my closet since I basically wear mine with everything. If you are feeling more adventurous, there are really fun colours out there for fall like this one which I absolutely love.
Leather pants are also very popular and I really like these ones for a casual yet very trendy look and I’m obsessed with these shorts. Another great option would be the pants with belt paired with a blazer or a nice blouse and voilà, you have a work outfit!
Leggings have been around for a while but they are another staple in my wardrobe which I wear all the time with everything! These faux leggings are a great choice and I really like these ones too!
